Its extinction would represent a big loss for the genetic heritage, the local economy, and our gastronomy, since Nebrodi Black Pig gives top-quality meat. The cuts are eaten fresh or processed - the product is sold from October to April - into salami, ham, bacon, etc. Festivals dedicated to this pig are held every year in Maniace, Caronia, Longi, and Cesaṛ. |
